Fire Door Inspection

Fire door assemblies are an essential part of a building’s safety. They help deter the spread of smoke, flame, and toxic gasses. Over time, components of the door will require maintenance, repair, or replacement to uphold the fire door’s integrity.

Most states require fire door assemblies to be maintained in accordance with NFPA 80. NFPA 80’s Chapter 5 – Care and Maintenance, requires fire door assemblies to be inspected and tested after installation (5.2.1), upon completion of maintenance work (5.2.2.5), and also annually(5.2.4.1). Chapter 5 of NFPA 80 applies to New and existing installations (5.1.1.2).
